A-LINE Coaches, a family business, was established in 1973 within the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead, Tyne & Wear.
Since that time we have enjoyed a wide and varied Bus & Coach operation.
Initially relying on coach use only, taking our passengers on a private hire basis to local events, race meetings, coastal trips and UK tours.
In the early 1980’s we expanded into Continental Europe visiting countries as far away as Switzerland, Italy and Yugoslavia.
We regularly travel to the closer European destinations.
At the present time we are only able to offer the organisation and performance of groups into Europe.
A local bus service was started in 1987 carrying passengers to join the Tyne Wear Metro system. Since then we have become contractors to Tyne Wear Passenger Transport Executive via Nexus, supplying transport for schools, Metro, Ferry and Rail replacement.
The transport of customers to and from the Mecca Bingo Hall is entrusted to this company, as is the safe carriage of children from local schools for their swimming lessons.
The ability to organise large numbers of passengers over a short or long period is one of the assets of which we are particularly proud.
For example, the movement of 1700 passengers to a company function in Newcastle, picking up in all areas of Tyneside, Northumberland, Durham and North Yorkshire, all to arrive in time for their Christmas celebration.
The transport for the Northumbria Police Force personnel during the 2005 Labour Party Conference in Gateshead involved scores of journeys over a five day period, at all times of the day and night. This operation was very successful and a letter expressing his delight was received from the Chief Constable.
This organisation is capable of making the job of moving passengers, in whatever numbers, easy for the customer.
A mixed fleet of vehicles is used, including luxury coaches and service buses including a double decker with coach seats and seat belts.
We are long serving members of CPT (The Confederation of Passenger Transport.)
One of the partners has been the Annual Chairman of the Northern Region of the CPT on many occasions and has sat on many National Committee meetings in London.
We are members of the CPT Mutual Aid Scheme whereby it is possible for this company to receive immediate response from other CPT operators in all parts of the UK should there be a breakdown or other circumstance that might prevent our vehicle from carrying out the journey. This means that our passengers are on their way again in a very short time, rather than the several hours wait that could face the passengers of those operators not so funded.

The CPT Logo is the best guarantee of being carried by a Professional, Responsible Organisation.
We try to be very competitive in pricing but do not claim to be the cheapest on every occasion.
However we are responsible and reliable.

'Happy Tony Clark is the bus driver who likes to bring a smile to your face.
Driving his number six service bus for A-Line Coaches from Jesmond Vale to Newcastle's Central Station, Tony, 35, is always on handwith a friendly word for his passengers.
With 12 year's experience on the buses, Tony, from Dunston, Gateshead, likes nothing more than to to give the people who use his bus a pleasurable trip.
Tony's devoted passengers nominated him for this award, in recognition of the extra effort he puts in to give great customer service.
Tony said: "With the service I do it's all part of the job, being happy. So many bus drivers get a bad name for being miserable, but I love my job. Coming to work is an absolute pleasure. Customer service is really important to me. Nowadays people have so much choice that if you're not nice to them they can go elsewhere.
It's quite a privilege to have won. I'm so excited. I've never had anything like this happen to me before."'
